Llanwenogs on Countryfile

In September 2007, the UK reported the first ever suspected case of Bluetongue disease in a Highland cow on a rare breeds farm near Ipswich. The Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, owned by Richard Storer, was shown in a programme on the disease on BBC Countryfile on 1st February 2015. His long established flock of Llanwenogs featured prominently .

The feature starts 8mins into the programme and followed Pirbright scientists evaluating the on-going threat and new strains of this disease.

A love of farm animals and becoming a grandmother inspired an artist‘s recent two year project. Mary Griese has attended many agricultural shows over the years with her greeting card business Slightly Sheepish. She has now published An Alphabet of Farm Animals, which is likely to become an heirloom among farming families with 56 beautifully illustrated pages. Llanwenog sheep is included under L.
