NSA South Sheep – 30 June 2014
This biennial event – a regional version of the Sheep event to be held at Malvern in July – took place on 29th June, near Glynde in East Sussex. This is an area where we don’t have any members, so it was decided the stand should attend.
The event has grown over the years now with many trade and Breed Society stands. There is sheep shearing, handling, dogs, Young Shepherd’s competition, fleece classes (1st prize with a Llanwenog!). Wool was featured as was the meat aspect. Several seminars on various topical themes were held.
Charles Horton took the stand and I took the sheep – three sharp ewe lambs. Very few knew what they were, but they caused a fair amount of interest. The thing everyone who looked said was “what lovely heads”. We had quite a few sensible enquiries, we shall see what transpires.
Although a rather long journey, we considered the trip worthwhile.
