Llanybydder Sale 27/8/11

On a rather dull and dismal morning, members and prospective buyers alike got together at Llanybydder Market for the Annual Show and Sale. A total of 26 vendors from near and far had entered stock and a number of new buyers were present, which was encouraging for the Society. A total of 111 ewes were entered as well as 81 ewe lambs. Prices did fluctuate, with the highest price ewes going under the hammer for 160 guineas.

With regard to the Ram trade a total of 28 were sold, with the highest price of 380 guineas going to Huw Evans, Alltgoch, for the Overall Champion (Yearling) Ram.

Breeding Ewes – Top 160gns to M G Clegg, Llysonnen;145 to DL & R Jenkins, Beili Gwyn; 140gns/ 130gns to D H Jenkins, Llysfaen; 140gns to R D Edwards, Glanrhyd; Others to 135gns.

Ewe Lambs- Top 155gns to D H Jenkins, Llysfaen; 130gns 112gns to J I Lloyd & Son, Cletwr; 125gns to D T Pittendreigh, Plas Villa; Others to 120gns.

Rams- Top 380gns to H Evans, Alltgoch; 360gns to J I Lloyd & Son, Cletwr; 350gns to A Williams, Pentre; 310gns to H Jenkins, Llysfaen; 310gns to E Morgans, Glwydwern; Others to 300gns.

Ram Lambs- Top 250gns (2) to A Williams, Pentre; 240gns to G Evans, Parcyrhos; 230gns to J I Lloyd & Son, Cletwr; Others to 220gns.

Worcester Sale 3/9/11

Entries were fewer than last year for the Worcester Sale.This seemed to be reflected in all the breeds, not only the Llanwenog Section.The top price in the ewes went to BG & SL Williams (132 Guineas) for a pen of five.
