2016 Summer Newsletter

The Society are trying to use emails as much as possible in order to keep down costs. Many Members asked for postal correspondence in their Flock Returns last year, but communicate by Email with me on general matters! We would therefore appreciate it if you receive this Newsletter by post and are happy to receive it by Email then please let me know.

Lambing Competition

The deadline for entering this Competition has been moved to 31st July 2016

Annual Elections to Working Committee

Each year four Committee Members retire by rotation, this year it is Mr Huw Evans, Mr Gareth Lloyd, Mrs M Brain and Mr Steffan Davies. The Society welcomes nominations for new and established members for the Committee, to help the breed thrive. Anyone wishing to stand for election (or re-election) should request a form from the secretary to be completed with a proposer and seconder. The deadline for nomination form is 1st September 2016. This date allows for any necessary arrangements for voting by proxy for the AGM.

Photographic Competition

Don't forget to keep your camera handy over the coming months for entries to the competition!!!

Presidents Open Day

Members from all over the Country met in a quiet little village on Saturday 14th May 2016 to view the Bradden Flock. The weather was kind and gave us a sunny, warm day. We were greeted with a cup of tea before walking to the nearby fields where we were given some history of the Bradden Flock and a chance to inspect and discuss what was on display! Following lunch, we drove to a nearby farm where we were given a tour of the Slapton Flocks of Texels and Blue Texels which were owned by Barbara and Rob Smith and their two daughters. A most enjoyable day was had by all and many thanks to the president and his wife for looking after us so well!

The new Grassroots system is now up and running. There is a lot of work to be done to get it up and running correctly. I will no doubt be contacting you over the coming months in order to get everything in order. In the meantime, please bear with me as it will be worth it in the end!

The newsletter is currently a means of informing members of official things going on in the society. I would like to see it become a means of getting to know you, our members and what you do with your Llanwenog Sheep! Not everyone keeps them for the Show Ring, you could be new to the sheep world, be a large commercial farmer or just use them to graze the lawn! If there is anything that you would like to see in the Newsletter, then please let me know.
